Parent Class Prep – a Suzuki Parent Workshop

Saturday, May 4, 2013 9 a.m. – noon

Parents and practice partners who are new to the Denison University Suzuki Program are required to attend before their students begin lessons.

All parents and practice partners in the Denison University Suzuki Program are welcome and strongly encouraged to attend this workshop.

Supplies to be purchased by the parent or practice partner prior to the first class:

  • Nurtured by Love, by Shinichi Suzuki
  • To Learn With Love, by William and Constance Starr
  • Book 1 and CD for the instrument to be studied
  • Blank CD’s and 4 different ways/places where the CD may be heard

Group Class Prep General Information

Group Class Prep A – 4 years old and under, meets 9:45am – 10:25am

Group Class Prep B – 5 years old and above, meets at 9:00 – 9:40 am

  • Please do not bring your instrument.
  • Parents will attend and participate with the student and will remember, reproduce and practice songs and activities at home.
  • Regular Class meets in Burke Rehearsal Room of the Burke Hall of Music and Art, 240 W. Broadway
  • In addition to the regular classes, parents and students will observe two other group classes for their instrument.  Ask your studio teacher for recommendations.
  • Students will be in this class for a semester (perhaps two) at the discretion of the studio teacher and Jim Van Reeth, program director.
